I

Giovanni Maciocia has passed away after a long illness.

He was one of the greatest and most influential Chinese Medicine authors of the modern age. I recall reading his books before setting forth towards my studies in China. Those books helped me a lot.

I recall the first books of his that I’ve read. These were the Foundations of Chinese Medicine and the Practice of Chinese Medicine, known to students as the silver book and the gold book, respectively.

Perhaps my favorite book of his is The Channels of Acupuncture. This undoubtedly was paradigm shifting for me.

Obviously he was more than just influential. He was amazing. He had inspired generations of practitioners with his clarity of exposition. He also made many Chinese classics more accessible to the modern English speaking reader by quoting them frequently in his works.

Rest In Peace. You will be remembered forever.
